Scientists have taken inspiration from the photosynthesis in plants and developed 'artificial leaves' that can produce clean hydrogen fuel using only sunlight as an energy source. All such devices developed so far have depended on using clean water, as contaminants can interfere with the chemical processes. Researchers have now created a solar powered device that can use polluted water or sea water, and produce green hydrogen fuel as well as clean water at the same time.
