Austrian rail manager ÖBB has laid the world’s first rail manufactured using hydrogen-based technology instead of coal, marking a milestone for sustainable railway infrastructure. The rails were produced as a demonstration pilot by voestalpine, with the goal of cutting long-term CO₂ emissions in railway operations.
