As part of a government-funded programme*, the American manufacturer is in charge of a pilot scheme to deploy fuel cell pick-ups to professional customers. And in this instance, it will be at Southern Company.
This electricity company in the south-east of the United States is to receive prototypes based on the Chevrolet Silverado 5500 MD. These hydrogen-powered pick-ups will feature GM’s Hydrotec fuel cell and hydrogen tanks. They will have a range of over 450 km and will be able to meet the same requirements as the equivalent internal combustion model, with a power output of 300 kW.
