A planning application for a “nationally significant” 3GW hydrogen plant called Kintore Hydrogen has been submitted by Statera Energy.
The facility proposed for Aberdeenshire will help balance the increasing proportion of renewable power generators being connected to the grid to produce green hydrogen, according to the developers.
Statera Energy said the plant would be the largest in Europe and the first 500MW of capacity will be operational by 2028.
