The Hydrogen Stream: India’s Maharashtra signs MoUs for green hydrogen projects worth over $33.2 billion

The Indian state of Maharashtra has received proposals from seven companies to create a cumulative 910 ktpa (kilotonnes per annum) of green hydrogen production capacity in Maharashtra. The state government has signed MoUs with the respective companies for these projects worth INR 276,300 crore (around $33.24 billion). NTPC Green Energy Ltd has committed an investment of INR 80,000 crore. ReNew eFuels will invest INR 66,400 crore and AVAADA Green Hydrogen and Bafna Solar & Infra INR 50,000 crore. Other companies investing in green hydrogen in the state include JSW Energy (INR 15,000 crore), Welspun Godavari GH2 (INR 29,900 crore), INOX Air Products (INR 25,000 crore), and L&T Green Energy (INR 10,000 crore).
