At a recent speech on meeting the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals, UN Secretary-General António Guterres made clear that the world is not on track: “Halfway to the deadline for the 2030 Agenda, we are leaving more than half the world behind… just 12 percent of the Sustainable Development Goal targets are on track. Progress on 50 percent is weak and insufficient. Worst of all, we have stalled or gone into reverse on more than 30 percent of the SDGs.”
